When the A112 was introduced in the fall of 1969, no one knew that it was laying groundwork for new model segment. But this fiat is way more than just an Italian version of Britain’s Mini, indeed the A112 was the first truly drivable supermini. When it came out it was the only serious supermini. It’s a real car that drives well, even today. It was produced by Fiat subsidiary Autobianchi, which functioned as a test lab for new car concepts in the 1960s. The 17-year construction period incurred seven series, which differ mainly in the form of accessories like grille, tail lamps, interior etc.

The Autobianchi A112 Junior is from the fifth series; the entire technology was designed by Fiat: crankcase, crankshaft, Pistons, connecting rods, camshaft, valves and springs, disc brakes, now a modular construction principle, carburettor and air filter – much did Fiat replace, reinforce or improved to increase the engine’s performance on 52 in the end. The ride is comfortable and the car take turns well. The suspension is not as stiff as the mini coopers.
