Jaguar XJ6

This Jaguar XJ6 2.8 epitomises everything that made Jaguar a legend: style, technical sophistication, and the commitment to offer nothing less than the best driving experience in its class.

1970: A car for an era of change

The early seventies were a fascinating time. The world was changing - between the euphoria of the swinging sixties and the first harbingers of the oil crisis, there was a feeling of unlimited possibilities in the air. The Jaguar XJ6 2.8 perfectly reflected this zeitgeist: a luxurious Gran Turismo for the great roads of Europe paired with British understatement. Jaguar staged the model sensually and provocatively for the time: in the advertising brochure, an elegant woman caresses the dashboard while painting her nails as she drives - the XJ6 was so smooth and sophisticated. The message was clear: this car was not just a car, it was a statement.

Rare original condition with patina

The example presented here was delivered to Emil Frey in Safenwil in 1970 and spent the following decades in the care of a conscientious first owner from Olten. Every detail - from the first brochure to the last service invoice - was meticulously documented. The condition of the vehicle speaks for itself: never welded, never restored - simply top. Among other things, this is due to the rust protection treatment with Dinitrol carried out immediately after purchase. The silver body impresses with a subtle patina that emphasises the authentic character of this classic.

A gentleman from Olten and his untouchable heritage

The son of the first owner, around 20 years old at the time, hoped to gain recognition with the Jaguar - but it didn't happen. The father never let anyone take the wheel, and even after his death, the car remained untouched. The son preserved the family tradition and for decades only drove the XJ6 for road checks and servicing. After more than 40 years and only 32,000 kilometres driven, the car finally found its way to "The Market." Today, it is one of the few XJ6 models that is in its original condition and so exceptionally well preserved.

A masterpiece by Sir William Lyons

The interior with dark blue leather seats invites you to travel in Gran Turismo style. The 2.8-litre six-cylinder engine purrs as it did on day one and makes every journey an experience - whether over Alpine passes or arriving in style at a grand hotel. The shape of the Jaguar XJ6 is no less impressive. The design, created by Sir William Lyons, combines elegance and character: the low-set twin headlights, the long bonnet, and the flowing lines make this car a work of art on wheels. Conclusion: This Jaguar XJ6 is more than just a car - it is a living testimony to British automotive art. For lovers of originality and elegance, it is a perfect example of why Jaguar became an icon of its time.
