The Mercedes-Benz S 600 Brabus T12 is a rare automotive gem and an impressive example of how far Brabus can go in terms of performance, luxury, and exclusivity. Based on the S-Class W220, which was already considered the epitome of German engineering, Brabus transformed the twelve-cylinder flagship into a high-performance saloon car, of which only a very few examples exist worldwide.
While AMG was fully integrated into Daimler in 2005, Brabus remained an independent entity. Since its founding in 1977 by Bodo Buschmann, the Bottrop-based company has become synonymous with uncompromisingly refined Mercedes models – from aerodynamic body kits and hand-built engines to fully equipped luxury saloons. With projects such as the T12, Brabus demonstrated that it was possible to take an already powerful S-Class to a whole new level.
The T12 was based on the Mercedes-Benz S 600 with its 5.5-litre biturbo V12 engine. Brabus upgraded it with its in-house ‘Powerkit’ to 580 hp – enough to blow away any normal idea of a touring saloon. The T12 reaches a top speed of up to 300 km/h before the electronics slow it down. The performance package was complemented by a sports suspension, a powerful braking system from Brembo, a quad exhaust system, and the iconic Brabus monoblock wheels. Visually, the car was given new bumpers, illuminated side skirts, and subtle but effective bodywork details. The interior combines luxury with high-tech: electrically folding Brabus tables in the rear, monitors in the headrests, a DVD and TV system, wireless headphones, and even an integrated Xbox. This combination of exuberant power and opulent comfort makes the T12 an icon among refined saloons.
This vehicle, VIN/chassis number WDBNG76J54A387363, was delivered new as a Mercedes S 600 in Arizona (USA) in 2004 and immediately sent to Brabus. Arizona is known for its dry, car-friendly climate, and the car spent its entire life there before joining our collection. At Brabus, it received the full T12 package worth almost $60,000 – in addition to a base price of more than $130,000. In total, there are invoices for around $260,000 for conversions, servicing, and customisation. No wonder Brabus named this example the North America Show Car: it was presented as a flagship model at the 2004 LA Auto Show. This is documented by original passports and VIP badges, which have been preserved to this day. The vehicle also comes with the original window sticker, the Brabus build sheet, sales documents, books, tools, spare parts, and a comprehensive service dossier.
In March 2020, the car was auctioned by RM Sotheby's in the USA from its first owner and shortly afterwards became part of our collection. In Switzerland, it took a full five years to complete the complex homologation process – proof of this model's uniqueness. Today, this vehicle is probably the only registered example of a Brabus T12 in Switzerland. Despite its age and high mileage, it is in excellent condition, both mechanically and visually.
The Brabus T12 combines the elegance of an S-Class with the sheer power of a super sports car and the exclusivity of a true rarity. There are very few examples of this model in existence worldwide; according to current information, there are fewer than two dozen. As a former Brabus show car with unique features, complete documentation, and a special auction history, this vehicle occupies a prominent position. Although the T12 has experienced a dramatic loss in value over the years, this is precisely what makes it so appealing: today, it is a collector's item that also embodies the ultimate travel and fun car. Whether as an exciting companion alongside a modern daily driver or as a luxury saloon for trips with the whole family, this vehicle is an automotive historical curiosity and a symbol of how uncompromising Brabus was in its thinking more than 20 years ago.
