The Lancia Gamma Coupé is a rare piece of Italian automotive history. With its Pininfarina design, 2.5-litre boxer engine, and elegant lines, it embodies the spirit of experimentation that characterised the late 1970s. Our 1979 model is in very good condition with a complete history and carefully documented restoration.
The Gamma was introduced in 1976 and produced until 1984 – a total of around 22,000 vehicles were built, including approximately 6,800 coupés. With front-wheel drive and a 140 hp boxer engine, Lancia deliberately chose to go its own way, far removed from the six-cylinder or V8 concepts that dominated at the time. It is precisely this technical independence that makes the Gamma an unconventional, little-known alternative to the classic GTs of the era.
The lines of the Gamma bear the unmistakable signature of Pininfarina. The flat bonnet, made possible by the transversely mounted boxer engine, lends the front end a sense of tension and lightness. Generous glass surfaces and a clear, uncluttered silhouette give the coupé a modern look even decades after its debut. Combined with the silver paintwork, the car exudes an elegant, timeless calm – the paintwork on our model is still in excellent condition today.
The interior of the Gamma captivates with its almost retro-futuristic look: dark brown velour with light accents characterises the interior, and the carpets and seats show hardly any signs of wear. The original radio has been preserved, as has the immaculate dashboard. The design is reminiscent of the optimism of that era – functional, minimalist, and yet stylish. The Gamma thus embodies the courage to make a clear, modern style statement in the midst of economic turmoil.
Our coupé underwent extensive refurbishment in 2018: the engine and transmission were overhauled, the chassis and suspension were renewed, new tyres were fitted, and the interior was carefully refurbished. The result is a vehicle that impresses both visually and technically. Its complete documentation includes numerous invoices and documents that prove it has been carefully maintained over decades.
The Lancia Gamma 2500 V Coupé combines clear elegance with technical independence. Its refined boxer engine, Pininfarina's striking design language, and its limited production run make it a fascinating collector's item. Thanks to its comprehensive restoration and complete history, this example is in remarkable condition – a Gran Turismo for connoisseurs looking for something discreetly special.
