The Fiat Panda 4x4 is considered an icon of clever simplicity – small, light, indestructible. This was made possible in 1983 by the collaboration with Steyr-Puch, which gave the Panda the first full four-wheel drive system in a small car. The Panda thus became a cult car in the Alpine regions and a favourite of pragmatists and designers alike.
In 1987, Fiat launched the Sisley special edition of the Panda 4x4. It was equipped with metallic paint, cream-coloured steel rims, roof rails, an inclinometer in the interior, and the typical canoe pictograms on the steering wheel, mud flaps, and bodywork. Initially a limited edition, it was continued as a separate equipment variant from 1989 onwards. In addition to bordeaux, green, and grey, the car was also available in Agadir Blue – the very colour our model is painted. Production figures for each colour have not been published, but blue Sisleys are significantly less documented than other colours.
This Panda 4x4 Sisley was first registered in January 1989 and imported by us from Portugal to Switzerland. For Swiss registration, the exhaust emission systems were professionally modified at considerable expense: the car was fitted with a catalytic converter and converted to fuel injection with a lambda sensor and control unit, with the corresponding DTC certificate. Despite these modifications, it remains an original Sisley; the adjustments are contemporary and necessary for homologation. Under the bonnet is the robust FIRE four-cylinder engine typical of the Panda 4x4 of the late 1980s/early 1990s. The mileage is around 99,000 km. The vehicle has a Swiss veteran registration, which emphasises its very good original condition.
Hardly any other car is as ubiquitous in St. Moritz as the Panda 4x4. It is the ‘one car for all’ and is appreciated by locals and high society alike. Its low weight, compact design, and sure-footed four-wheel drive make it the benchmark in snow. This is precisely why it has become a popular figure and status symbol among the more understated crowd in the Engadin scene. According to media reports, the Panda 4x4 is the ‘trendy’ mode of transport in St. Moritz – a role that was significantly influenced by Gianni Agnelli, who himself drove a Panda 4x4 through the streets of Engadin.
The Panda 4x4 Sisley combines functional intelligence with charm. It is a design masterpiece from the school of Giugiaro / Italdesign and is still considered the archetype of the ‘people's four-wheel drive’ today. With its blue Sisley trim, expert Swiss modifications, and veteran status, this model is a true classic – ideal for snow-covered mountain passes and narrow village roads, and a charming addition to our collection.
